Kicked in the Bluetooth

2008 | 06 | 17

adidas makes great use of Bluetooth wireless technology in their Taekwondo body protectors. Check out the video to see how scoring is kept automatically without intrusive wires.

Digital Kicks

2006 | 10 | 19

adidas is coming to the popular online world, Second Life. Rivers Run Red appears to be doing the hard work. Read more over at 3pointD.com.

Shirt Off Your Back

2006 | 06 | 16

The 2006 World Cup is in full swing. As I was watching the games, I began wondering what company has the most jerseys on the field. I added them up, and the winner is Puma with 12. adidas is not as well represented and only has 6 countries. Those countries are Germany (of course), Argentina, France, Japan, Spain, and Trinidad/Tobago.

Dunk with Smarts

2006 | 05 | 19

The adidas_1 line is growing. Adidas has now added brains to a basketball shoe. Intelligent cushioning knows when you are breakin' punks down with your crossover and when you are returning to earth after posterizing the guy trying to guard you. I think it's pretty cool that the shoe goes in to standby mode when you haven't moved in awhile to conserve battery.

See more over at adidas.com.

World Cup ball - Teamgeist

2006 | 02 | 22

adidas has unveiled the ball that everyone will be watching in this year's World Cup matches. The ball is called the Teamgeist and is meant to highlight team spirit. The ball is made from 14 panels and is designed for accuracy and control, and we all need a little more of that, huh?

Lots of great images are available from adidas, so grab one for your desktop background.

Title

2006 | 02 | 21

Have you been watching the winter Olympics? Have you seen the Powerweb enabled Clima TechFit suits worn by bobsledders and crosscountry skiers? They look pretty cool, if a touch odd.

The Powerweb technology serves as energy management. The simple mechanism: Follow the natural movements of the muscles and enhance the movements.

I also really like the new "striped 3s" design they are using. It is very interesting that the "3 stripe" logo was ruled out by the IOC. They seem to be cracking down on the logos. It's funny that adidas has done such a great job with their branding that 3 straight lines is instantly recognizable as adidas. Good job guys.

World Cup 2006 Ball Will Not Have RFID

2006 | 02 | 21

I never posted the earlier news, but adidas, along with Cairos, and Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits are working on embedding RFID in the ball to help determine when it crosses the goal line. The original intent was for the ball to be ready for this year's World Cup.

Unfortunately, initial trials haven't been as successful as everyone would have liked and we will not see RFID enabled balls in Germany this year.

Kobe Commercials Back on TV

2006 | 02 | 12

Even though he is no longer with adidas, Kobe Bryant is still my favorite player in the NBA. You may remember that Kobe and adidas parted ways back in 2003 when he signed a contract with Nike. Shortly after that, Kobe was charged with sexual assault. Nike kept Kobe on the back burner after that...until now.

On Thursday, Nike's first commercial featuring Kobe was shown. You can read all about it over at espn.com.

To bring this back to adidas, you can see some of Kobe's old adidas shoes in the athletes section.

On Your Feet - Rooftop Chillin'

2006 | 02 | 07

For my on your feet shot, I went up the mountain. Rogier simply went upstairs, and from the looks of it, he had just as much fun. A big thank you to Rogier for answering my request of pics of adidas shoes actually on your feet and in action.

Now it's your turn. Send those pics in.

On Your Feet

2006 | 01 | 16

I'd like to get a series going of pictures of your adidas shoes in action. I'll get things started with a shot of my hiking boots getting a deserved rest near the top of Quandary Peak in Colorado.

I love these hiking boots. They are the most comfortable boots I've ever worn. They are light enough to hike in all day, but sturdy and durable enough to take on long and steep hikes.

So send me an email with a pic of your adidas on your feet and I'll post them here.

Upgrade Your Feet

2005 | 11 | 29

Last December, adidas released the adidas_1 which was called "The World's First Intelligent Shoe". Since truly intelligent beings will learn and improve, adidas just had to make an adidas_1.1. The 1.1 version claims:
  • Better cushioning
  • 153% more torque on the motor that adjusts the shoe
  • Faster with 1,500 detections per second
  • 5 million decisions every second. I wonder if it ever ponders if it is cuter than Nike shoes?
adidas-1.com will tell you more.

I still think adidas should send me a pair of size 11.5 to review.

Those are some hot wheels

2005 | 11 | 07

adidas is putting the pedal to the metal with the product tie-ins. Now your little bundle of horsepower can burn some (shoe) rubber with their own Hot Wheels branded shoes. If I was a kid, I think I would be running around the room screaming I want these right about now. Three different models are available. Go check them out.

3 Racing Stripes Please

2005 | 10 | 16

Nissan has a new concept car, and it is decked out in adidas styling. Autoblog has the full story. adidas is no stranger to tie-ins. We need look back no further than the 35th anniversary of the Superstar where adidas released models that featured Disney, Roc-a-fella records, and Missy Elliott.

So do you get a matching pair of shoes if you buy the car?

Thanks for the link Josh.

adidas buys Reebok

2005 | 08 | 04

This is big. adidas is paying out some fat cash for Reebok. Read all about it over at adidas-salomon.com

Thanks Jason.

Zissou

2005 | 07 | 11

So, I'm a little slow. I just recently saw the movie The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. It has a great scene where they put on box fresh kicks that happen to be custom made, Team Zissou, adidas shoes. A quick googling tells me that people were custom making these and selling them on eBay a while back. I love it.

Do you have screen caps from other movies featuring adidas? Send them in.

Anna's At Your Door

2005 | 07 | 09

As part of Amazon's 10 year anniversary celebration, they are sending out orders to be delivered by athletes, musicians, and actors. It looks like Anna has already delivered a package, but who knows, maybe she'll deliver more, so go buy some adidas gear.

adidas Messenger Pack

2005 | 07 | 09

For those of you who use MSN messenger, you may want to try out the adidas 1 pack. I personally have no need to "theme" my IM client, but if that's your sort of thing, have at it.

Hello Tomorrow

2005 | 05 | 31

Just an update on a previous post. The Karen O track from the adidas 1 commercial is now available on iTunes Music Store. I was wrong on the track title before. The correct title is Hello Tomorrow (adidas Version). It is performed by Karen O & Squeak E. Clean. I know you have 99 cents in your pocket, so go buy it.Hello Tomorrow

adidas Should Make a Tricycle

2005 | 05 | 15

I recently visited a Puma store and saw the new Puma bike. It was pretty cool and actually similar to what I'm looking to get for my next commuter bike (single speed for sure). The only thing that keeps me from getting it is the weight/price ratio. It's pretty heavy for what it costs. The built in bike lock is only of marginal interest to me as I would keep the bike inside most of the time.

So of course, I started to think what would be on an adidas bike. Well, adidas is all about 3s, so why not make a tricycle? Here is my quick interpretation of what the adidas tricycle should look like. Yes, this is meant to make you smile. I really don't expect adidas to make a tricycle.

Superstar 35th Anniversary

2005 | 04 | 17

In case you missed it, adidas is wrapping up their celebration of the 35th anniversary of the adidas Superstar. They released 35 new models including shoes featuring Run-D.M.C., Missy Elliott, Roc-a-fella, Disney, and even one sporting the likeness of Mr. Adi Dassler himself. I think I need to get the Dassler pair.

They also have a few in the series sporting logos from different cities, like Boston. Personally, I don't care for the wallpaper look, but I admire the passion.

Know anyone who bought all 35? I'd love to post a pic. They do have a collectors section on the site. Believe it or not, those guys are way more in to adidas than I am! There are also lots of collector items to be had at adidas retail stores around the world. Unfortunately I'm no where near any adidas retail stores, so I'll probably miss out on all the fun.

adidas Equipment is Back

2005 | 04 | 02

What once was old now is new. A few days ago, an email from adidas shows up in my inbox with the subject "adidas introduces Equipment". Introduces? Doesn't that mean to bring something new? Equipment isn't new. It's downright old school. As mentioned on my history page, adidas Equipment was first introduced in 1991.

Don't get me wrong, I'm delighted to see that it is back. I've always loved the Equipment line. It is some high quality stuff. In fact, just a couple of weeks ago I was out kicking the ball around wearing my adidas Equipment Turf shoes. They are beat up, but have held together for 14 years!

For a real blast from the past, check out this scanned page from an old Ten-soc International catalog.

There can be only 1

2005 | 04 | 01

Adidas is now selling the "World's First Intelligent Shoe". The Adidas 1 contains electronics to monitor your run and adjust the cushioning on the fly. The shoe's are pricey at $250, but the tech is pretty interesting. The styling isn't that bad either.

The commercial for the Adidas 1 is really cool. Spike Jonze is behind it, so you know it is wacky, yet mesmerizing at the same time. You can view the video over at Adjab or 'boards

For those curious about the music in the commercial. The music is called Whenever I Wake Up and it was written specifically for Adidas by Sam Spiegel and performed by Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

I think adidas should send me a pair of size 11.5 to review. What do you guys think?

sadida.com is back

2005 | 03 | 31

Don't call it a comeback, I've been here for years. With apologies to LL Cool J, I have been here for years, but you probably should call it a comeback. Maybe it is the spring weather, but something is inspiring me to get sadida.com rocking again.

For some quick history, sadida.com started life as Ryno's adidas page, way back in 1996. The picture of the adidas cell phone shown here is an example of what used to pass as a decent 'shopped picture and yes kids, cell phones did look like that at the time I made that graphic.

With the recent flurry of blog popularity, I figured I should breathe some new life in to this one. As you can tell by the dates on the other posts, I've been away for a long time. Well, I'm going to give it another go.

Refresh your bookmarks and tell your friends. Sadida.com is back.

adidas outlet stores

2002 | 11 | 23

I've only seen two of these stores so far, but they are great. An entire store full of adidas stuff, priced to sell. Most of the stuff they have is usually last season's shoe models, but I don't care. I gurantee you'll see shoes in there you've never seen before.

The only one I have an address on is in the Johnson Creek Outlet Center in Wisconsin.

adidas #138
142 W. Linmar Lane
Johnson Creek, WI 53038

Do you have an adidas outlet near you? Send me an email and let me know so I can post it here.

Adidas and Kobe split

2002 | 07 | 15

I know it's been forever since I updated this site (nearly a year) but I just read some news that had to be posted. According to an ESPN story, Kobe and Adidas have ended their endorsement deal. Wow! I thought Kobe would be Adidas' crown jewel forever. Any predictions on what happened? Do you think Kobe really did want more money than Adidas was willing to give? I'll try to find more info on this story and post it here.

History and Review of the Samba

2001 | 09 | 23

I've written up a bit of history and a review of the Samba. I think the Samba is the greatest shoe ever made. What does everyone else think? Do you know of another shoe that has the price:performance ratio that the Samba does? Head on over to epinions to read my review and post a comment on a better shoe if you can think of one :)

First look at the Kobe 2

2001 | 07 | 18

There's no need for me to ramble on so let's just cut to the chase.
Kobe 2 pics!

That's right folks, two great shots of the new Kobe Bryant shoe.

Special thanks to David for sending these in.

Kobe 1 isn't done yet

2001 | 06 | 21

Many of you saw ads for the Kobe 2 during the recently finished NBA playoffs. (May I take a moment and congratulate the Lakers on their repeat!)

Anyway, back to the announcement. The Kobe 2 may be on the way, but the Kobe 1 is still one fantastic shoe. How fantastic? Fantastic enough for Cheong to use it as the subject for this month's wallpaper. I advise you high tail it on over to the wallpaper download area and check it out!

The Adan

2001 | 06 | 20

Kicksology.net has a great review of the new adidas Adan. This isn't your typical shoe. You should really go check out the review. You certainly can't say that adidas makes boring shoes! There's lots of high quality pics too.
I can't seem to find any info on adidas.com about these yet, but Kicksology claims they will be priced at US$84.99.

Read Reviews at Epinions.com

2001 | 05 | 31

sadida.com is now a content partner with Epinions.com. Epinions is a site full of reviews on various products, including lots of adidas stuff! When you get a chance, go take a look.
Here are a few reviews to get you started...

New Wallpaper

2001 | 05 | 31

I get a lot of emails when I don't get the wallpapers of the month up in time. That's good though. I know you guys like them, so your emails are motivation for me. I just squeaked in this month. May is up, and June is soon to follow, I hope :)

Rockin' the Kobe's

2001 | 03 | 26

Jonathan sent in this month's wallpaper. It combines Kobe's new kicks and the logo from this very site! Check it out, I think you will like it.

Will your wallpaper be next month's featured wallpaper? It could be! Get to work and send it in.

Another adidas wallpaper brought to you by Sun World

2001 | 02 | 25

It seems that whenever I am short on wallpaper submissions, Sun World sends a new one. January 2001 is now up. This month's wallpaper is another take on the KoRn/adidas relationship.

Remember, you too can have your work posted here for thousands of people to download and use as the wallpaper on their computers. Take it from me, it feels good to go over to a friend's house and see your hard work on display. So take a bit of time and create your digital adidas masterpiece and then send it off to me. You could be the pick for March!

Review of the Mad Handle

2001 | 02 | 04

Kicksology.net has a new adidas review up. This time, they took a look at Tracy McGrady's new shoe, the Mad Handle. As usual, Kicksology does a great job telling you about the shoe and has lots of nice pics of the shoes.

I apologize

2001 | 02 | 04

Well, as most of you have realized, I haven't been updating this site over the past few months. I'm not completely sure why. I did post a new wallpaper, just now. I'm looking to post wallpapers for January and February but no one has sent me any to post. So, if you want to get your work posted here for others to enjoy, get to it :)

adidas Loko review

2000 | 11 | 11

I received this review a while ago but never got around to posting it. The Loko is a really nice shoe. I have the mens version of it. If you can find a pair at your local store, they will probably be on clearance. I recommend picking up a pair :)

You can read the review in my reviews area.

I am always looking for people to write a review for me. So if you want to have your words posted on this site, write me a review of your latest pair of adidas shoes. If you don't want to write about shoes, write about any and all of your adidas products.

Review of the SL mid

2000 | 10 | 27

Kicksology.net recently asked me what adidas basketball shoes they should review next. I suggested they take a look at the new adidas sl mid. They took the advice and recently posted a review of the shoes. Head on over and read their review. It is a pretty thorough review and has lots of good pics of the shoe.

Anyone have any suggestions on which shoes they should review next in case they ask?

Yankees win again

2000 | 10 | 27

The New York Yankees won the World Series for the third year in a row last night. The Yankees are sponsored by adidas. You can see adidas products on most every player and there are even adidas banners on the outfield walls and tarp rolls.

Has anyone else noticed that the Yankees have been doing amazingly well ever since they started wearing adidas? :)

october wallpaper

2000 | 10 | 08

October wallpaper is up. I also did a little rearranging in the wallpaper area, so hopefully pages will load faster. Things are also a little more organized now :)

Wallpaper of the Month

How do you see adidas?

2000 | 10 | 06

One of my friends just returned from a month in Germany. He said that in Germany, people seemed to think that Nike was the "cool" brand. Now, in the US, adidas is sometimes the trendy brand, but I think more people wear adidas because they like the products than because it is cool to do so. What does everyone else think about the subject? How is adidas seen in your area of the world? What are the reasons that you wear adidas?

Post your opinion in the new Message Board.
